Elimination affects your entire physiology (mind, body and emotions)

Feeling heavy, lethargic, fatigued, worried or a little down??? Its almost routine complaint of 90% patients. Why so??? Why its happening???

Ayurveda define like this-
Like all living organisms, your body has a natural rhythm.
At night, the body focuses on repairing, cleansing and rejuvenating itself, from its individual cells to its organ systems.

At the end of this cycle, your body wants to unload the toxins that have been cleansed from the tissues and metabolized by your digestive system while you slept. It does this by evacuating the bowel and bladder first thing in the morning.

A happy digestion outcomes to balanced health and strong immune system, says Ayurveda. When food is not properly digested, we all know how it makes us feel – heavy and lethargic, bad breath in the morning, irritable moods and more….
Per Ayurveda, poor digestion is the root cause of all diseases.

Irregular elimination (known commonly as occasional constipation) can cause you to feel off-balance mentally and physically. You may think it’s not a big deal to skip a morning, yet regular elimination makes a huge difference in how you feel during the day.

During the day, on the other hand, your body is in an active absorption phase, dominated by agni, the digestive fire. If you don’t have proper bowel and bladder elimination in the morning, the toxins that were cleansed from the tissues during the night get reabsorbed into the body. These reabsorbed toxins can result in lethargy, fatigue, feelings of sadness and, over time, weakened immunity. Regular elimination also supports cholesterol health.

Since elimination affects your entire physiology (mind, body and emotions), you can’t neglect or ignore it. With a few changes in your diet and routine, you can get in tune with your body’s natural rhythm and make regular elimination a part of your daily routine.

Tips to optimize digestion –
1) Eat only when you are hungry
2) Avoid eating a heavy meal in the evening
3) Avoid ice-cold drinks
4) Be present to the food on your plate when you sit down for a meal
5) Leave the table still feeling a little hungry

I encourage you to start listening to your body; tune in to how your tummy feels after eating and drinking. Try to notice how it reacts to “that particular dish” or “that particular drink” you had. Also, perceive how your body feels when you skip a meal or eat on the go.

What we eat, when we eat and how we eat… matters a lot. Pay attention to your tummy!!

Regularity in sleeping, waking, eating and elimination, indeed following a daily routine, and being disciplined helps to maintain the integrity of the doshas and good health.

The powerful Healing properties of Herb – GARLIC

Herb Garlic is Ayurveda ‘s mighty bulb…its have so many healing properties. Ancient texts indicates so many indications for various diseases. Allium sativum, commonly known as garlic, is a species in the onion genus, allium. Its close relatives include the onion. With a history of human use of over 7,000 years, garlic is native to central Asia

“यदा अमृतं वैनेतयो जहार सुर्सत्मात I  तदा ततोअप्तद बिन्दु : स रसोन उद्भव : भुवि II “

Ayurveda scholar Acharya Bhavpraksh mentioned that, when Garuda steel “Amruta” from Lord Indra, at that time the drops of Amruta sprinkled/fell down on earth and the Garlic is cultivated from those drops.

He also mentioned following qualities of Herb Garlic-

Here are some of Qualities…uses and some Results of medical researches also.

– a dose of 1-2 cloves per day was able to lower cholesterol by an average of 15 percent. This would reduce the risk of heart attack by 30 percent.

For centuries many cultures have hailed garlic as an aphrodisiac due to its ability to boost blood circulation.garlic uses

– garlic consumption may reduce the risk of developing several types of cancer, especially those associated with the gastrointestinal tract. Both the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the US and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognize garlic as having potential anticancer properties.

Research scientists at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology found that garlic can act as an antidote to heavy metal poisoning, showing effectiveness in reducing levels of cadmium, arsenic, copper, mercury and lead.

Traditionally, garlic was used to treat both internal and external infections. It was commonly prescribed for internal conditions of the ears, mouth, skin, stomach and throat, and applied externally to treat boils, spots and ulcers.

During the First and Second World Wars garlic was used to treat open wounds, and troops in the trenches relied on garlic as protection against gangrene and as a cure for dysentery. In China and India, garlic has long been recommended for cholera, dysentery and as an antiseptic lotion for washing wounds and ulcers.

– Hippocrates, Galen, Pliny the Elder, and Dioscorides all mention the use of garlic for many conditions, including parasites, respiratory problems, poor digestion, and low energy.

– garlic can work against a variety of bacteria and fungi, including Candida (see further along in this article), Cryptococcus (which causes meningitis), Microsporum (ringworm) and Salmonella.

– Apart from having fewer side effects, garlic’s overwhelming advantage over antibiotics is two- fold. First, it does not create bacterial resistance in the way antibiotics do; there is no evidence that bacteria become so accustomed to garlic that they start to live with it or even on it. Second, garlic has the ability to act on a range of bacterial and fungal infections rather than targeting specific bugs. It does not work as precisely or as quickly as antibiotics, but has a gentle and persistent action on the body. For this reason it is ideally suited to the treatment of infections that are not acute or immediately life threatening.

Garlic oil remedy will generally resolve simple earache (first stages of inflammation) within 24 hours. If the earache persists you should seek professional help — do not delay treatment, especially where children are concerned.

-Some people apply garlic oil to their skin to treat fungal infections, warts, and corns. There is some evidence supporting the topical use of garlic for fungal infections like ringworm, and athlete’s foot; but the effectiveness of garlic against warts and corns is still uncertain.

Garlic Ayurveda uses– Garlic is a common flavoring in food, some scientists have suggested that it might have a role as a food additive to prevent food poisonng.  There is some evidence that fresh garlic, but not aged garlic, can kill certain bacteria such as E. coli, antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and salmonella enteritidis in the laboratory

– Garlic has long been thought to possess antiviral properties and for many it reliably wards off the most prevalent viral infection of all: the common cold

– For centuries garlic has been used as a natural antiviral to ward off symptoms of colds and respiratory infections. These basic garlic preparations will bring overall relief and resistance.

– Garlic has been successful in combating even the most aggressive bacteria responsible for stomach upsets.

– Many commercial pesticides are harmful to the environment. Garlic though is all-natural but it can be as effective as any of these commercial variants. Simply mix garlic cloves and extracts with pepper and a bit of soap to make your own garlic pesticide.

– If you are taking prescribed anti-coagulant drugs such as warfarin, you should consult your doctor before taking any garlic supplements or eating large quantities of raw garlic.  too much raw garlic could irritate or even damage the digestive tract. As always, use common sense, don’t overdo it and if in doubt consult your doctor.

– Garlic makes a wonderful health supplement for many people but the so-called “garlic cure” is no substitute for the basics: sensible eating and appropriate exercise. Garlic should be seen as part of a healthy lifestyle – not as an alternative to it. Always consult your doctor first regarding any medical condition.

Celebrate your Inner Light on Diwali

Diwali or Deepavali, popularly known as the “festival of lights,” is a five day festival which starts on dhanteras, celebrated on thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month ashwin and ends on bhai beej, celebrated on second lunar day of Shukla paksha (bright fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month kartik.

What is the reason for playing with fireworks on Diwali??

Whatever negativity – anger, jealousy or fear – has accumulated in your mind in the last one year should get dissolved in the form of all the crackers. With each cracker, burst any negativity you may have for any person, or at the most write the name of that person on the cracker and burst it, and just know that all ill feelings, jealousy etc, has got burnt. But what do we do? Instead of finishing the negativity, either we wish that person to get finished or burn ourselves in that fire of negativity. It should be the other way around. Thinking all the negativity or ill feelings have gone out with those crackers, become friendly with that person again. There is a feeling of lightness, love, peace and happiness, and then go and have sweets with that person and celebrate Diwali. This is only true Diwali, by bursting crackers burn the bad qualities of that person, not the person.

What is importance of Diya (Lamps) ?

The lights and diyas of Diwali relate to-
“तमसो मा  ज्योतिर्गमय II ”  (take me from darkness to light).

Just like light is misunderstood as lighting lamps and not internal gyan, Diwali is misunderstood for ‘getting wealth and more wealth’ rather than ‘get wealth and detach me from it as it is physical and so temporary.’

With Diwali round the corner, you can already feel festivities in the air. Families are upbeat about the ‘National Festival’ and are busy in cleaning and decorating their houses for the big day. But, let us all, for a moment, reflect on something very important. Do we really know what Diwali means?

The Significance of Diwali According to Hindu mythology, Diwali marks the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom of Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, in the epic Ramayana. In essence, the festival signifies the victory of good over evil.

However, in Hindu philosophy, Diwali signifies “the awareness of the inner light”. It is the assertion that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the Atma or Jiva (soul). Diwali is an occasion to realise and know this inner light, which outshines all darkness, removes all obstacles, and dispels all ignorance.

The realization of Atma gives us Life, Light and Love (JivaJyotiPrem). And, when we learn to love and serve our loved ones unconditionally, without expecting anything in return, we bring ananda (joy) in our lives.

Remember that what happens inside a being is what is reality; external manifestations are only its reflection. Don’t attempt to change the reflection but try to change the real thing. May you all realise the full potential of the Supreme energy on this beautiful festival of lights, Diwali.

What does Ayurveda say?

The core philosophy of Ayurveda is to clean the body, mind and senses and realise that ‘I am soul’. All ancient Ayurvedic texts ultimately aim at cleansing not only the physical, but also the subtle, that is, the sub-conscious mind (chitta). In this festive season, we urge you to utilize the knowledge engrained in ancient Ayurvedic texts and purify yourself at all levels.

In our fast paced lives, we often forget to clean our body and senses. Our minds too are perpetually over-stimulated with stress, worries and negative thoughts. With the body, mind and senses unclean, it is impossible to realize the soul. That’s why, even though many of us are trying to find peace by meditating or chanting mantras, we still do not feel that joy in our lives.

This Diwali, let’s not only clean, decorate and light our houses, but learn this simple method of cleansing and realizing our inner light. Let’s take the pledge to make Ayurveda a part of our lives… forever….This Diwali let us pray and feel grateful – let there be prosperity in every corner of the world – let all people experience love, joy and abundance in their lives.
I wish you all a very healthy, happy, peaceful and enlightening Diwali.

7 Dangerous acts after a meal

1. Don’t smoke — Experiments from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher)

2. Don’t eat fruits immediately — Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Thre fore take fruits 1 -2 hours after meal or 1 hour before meal.

3. Don’t drink tea—— Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the protein content in the food we consume to be hundred thus difficult to digest.

4. Don’t loosen your belt ———- Loosening the belt after meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked.

5. Don’t bathe———- ——- Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease, this will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. Don’t walk about ———- — People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In fact one should walk slowly after meal. Fast Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7. Don’t sleep immediately —- ——– The food we intake will not be to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in our intestine.
